PNCA Kid Filmmaker Course

As lead educator for this six week class held in 2008  I developed a curriculum which went well beyond the scope of traditional  kids production classes.   Along with learning skills in iMovie, Final Cut Pro and Rockband, the participants cut and spliced found footage from 16mm film, recorded a real rock band in the studio, learned special effects make-up, and gained critical skills in media literacy through film analysis. A full blog of the class work along with portfolio of student work can be found here .

One film "Flowers and Love" created in the class by student Makyala Bishop, was selected to be screened at the Chicago International Children's Film Festival  , the premiere independent film festival for youth and families in the US, and at Tiny TBA the kids component of Portland's contemporary arts festival TBA.
